Ok so the entire reason we went to Sturbridge was for the New England Shake Up!  This is the 2nd year of the Shake Up.  Last year was such a success they decided to do it again.  The machine behind the Shake Up is Beck Rustic.  Beck is amazing!  All the musicians spoke so highly of her.  She can run a show, that’s for sure!  At one point the dance floor busted and the next thing we knew Beck was on the floor with a hammer fixing it!

The Sturbridge Host Hotel is the home of the New England Shake Up.  It sits on a lovely lake and even has a mini golf course.

Saturday afternoon was the Shake Up Car Show.  Lucas found a lovely BelAir in two tone blue/silver.  What a beauty!

Saturday’s music line up is what convinced Lucas and I to go – the line up was Amber Foxx, Roy Rapid and the Rhythm Rock Trio, Rhythm Bound, Cash O’Reilly, The Bellfuries and Big Sandy and his Fly Rite Boys.  AMAZING music right there!  We also enjoyed the Millwinders and Jittery Jack on Sunday as well as the Modern Don Juans, the Greasemarks and the Outta Sites on Friday.

This is me running around doing what I do.

If you’ve never been to a rockabilly weekender but you’re thinking of going to one I definitely recommend you start out with the New England Shake Up.  Viva Las Vegas is 60mph the ENTIRE time for 4 days while the Shake Up is much more casual and a little slower going which may be perfect for beginners!
