2 months until we go to Viva Las Vegas!!!! I’m so excited. For those of you living under a rock and don’t know what I’m talking about Viva Las Vegas is basically a Rockabilly convention. What is Rockabilly you ask? Let’s ask Wikipedia:
Rockabilly is one of the earliest styles of rock and roll music, dating to the early 1950s. Think Elvis and Carl Perkins. Today think JD McPherson.
Some people live a rockabilly lifestyle – they usually (but not always) dress 1950’s (right down to the hair styles and undies). Some drive vintage cars. Some live in houses that look straight out of the 50’s and 60’s. Tattoos are a big part of the rockabilly lifestyle (on guys and gals). This is a fun (don’t take it too seriously but it’s sorta true) take on rockabilly – http://www.dobi.nu/yourscenesucks/rockabilly/index.htm
Obviously Lucas and I don’t live a rockabilly lifestyle but I enjoy the music, fashions; Lucas is wishing he had the cash to get a full sleeve tattoo and we both enjoy some mid century modern home designs.
Ok, back to Viva – so a billion people (ok not quite a billion, but alot) show up at the Orleans Hotel in Las Vegas for a weekend (Thurs-Sunday) of dancing, tiki parties, car shows, bands, fashion shows, vintage vendors, burlesque, bowling, and bingo. I’m most excited to drool over (and envy) everyone’s hair and clothes and meet people who I only “know” via blogs and Facebook. This is an example via a google search of what to see at Viva:
This is your warning – I will be posting pictures every 3 minutes on Easter weekend (that’s when Viva is). 🙂
Now to figure out what to pack…
